Tour the Battleship USS North Carolina

When visiting Wilmington or the nearby towns, you will certainly want to take the time to visit the legendary Battleship USS North Carolina. This giant vessel stands proud reminding visitors of the efforts the U.S. took to remain a free country. You can board the ship and explore it, as well as feel the pride that oozes from every corner with patriotism. The tour of the ship is self-guided, which means you can explore at your own pace and spend more time in areas that interest you and less in others. Generally, you will need at least two to four hours to explore everything the ship has to offer.

Have fun at one of the local beaches

If you’re more a beach person, this warm and sunny city is positioned right in the center of many beaches that you can enjoy whenever you like. Within twenty minutes are Kure Beach, Wrightsville Beach, and Carolina Beach. If you’re up for a drive, there’s Topsail Island less than an hour away while Myrtle Beach is roughly 90 minutes south of downtown Wilmington. It usually doesn’t get too cold in the winter, and the summers are moderately hot. If it does get a little too warm for your liking, the inviting, cool ocean water is a perfect way to escape the heat. In the winter, you might even get a chance to see a snow-covered beach.
